PTA MEMBERSHIP & FALL DOG DOLLARS DONATION CAMPAIGN

Dear Pioneer Parents and Community,

WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL! On behalf of the Pioneer PTA Executive Board, I want to extend a warm welcome back our returning families and a special welcome to our new Pioneer Families!

Pioneer Elementary is such a special community -- kind, caring, and spirited -- created by our dedicated teachers and staff, amazing students and of course, a very supportive and engaged parent community. My name is Linda Lingbloom and I am so honored to be returning as your PTA President for this upcoming school year. I want to also recognize the dedicated group of Pioneer parents serving on the 2019-2020 PTA Executive Board: Nicole Gleason, Executive Vice President; Britt Petrotta, Treasurer; Autumn Peters, Secretary; Aimee Feinberg, Enrichment VP; Doug Sulenta, Membership VP; Elizabeth Knudsen, Communications VP; and, Kati Rose, Auditor

It is my goal to provide a very open and inviting PTA, so I encourage you to be active in any way that fits your schedule. PTA involvement is a great way to connect with other families, share your voice, and support the school. Please take a moment to review this Welcome Packet with membership and volunteer information. These forms will be collected at Paperless Parade on Monday, August 26 or you can submit them to the school office at the start of the school year. I encourage you to visit our website www.pioneerelementarypta.com where there is an incredible amount of helpful information on PTA events and student activities.

The PTA is truly a dynamic collaboration of parents, teachers, and staff working to provide enrichment opportunities for all our TK-6th grade students. It is my hope that you will support our PTA-sponsored fundraisers throughout the school year. Last year, the PTA used fundraising dollars to support our teachers and pay for important school site activities and enrichment programs. The following is a snapshot of our 2018-19 Budget:

  • $14,000 for teacher support ($500 stipend for each classroom teacher and $350 for specialists and para educators)

  • $10,000 Classroom Fine Arts Instruction and Supplies

  • $10,000 Math Aide

  • $10,000 Intermural Supervisor

  • $10,000 New books for the Library, Reading Room and Teacher Classrooms

  • $8,000 Educational assemblies, Field Trips and the Student Play

  • $6,000 Lunchapalooza: Coordinated Lunch Recess Activities

  • $2,000 PE and Recess Programs

  • $2,000 Climate Activities and Afterschool Enrichment Scholarships

  • Community Events Family Movie Night, Fall Festival, Spring Book Fair, Active4me/Bike to School Program, and Pioneer Collectors’ Spring Fling.

  • Enrichment Afterschool STEAM and Chess, Red Ribbon Week, Julius Caesar Day, Student Play, Student Council, and Classroom Garden.

  • Hospitality Events TK & Kinder Social at the Park, Teacher Conference Lunches, Welcome Back Coffee, Testing Snacks, and Teacher Appreciation Day.

Finally, I hope you can join me and the PTA Board for our first event of the school year – Welcome Back Coffee on the Quad – held on the first day of school (Aug. 28) after the morning bell. Please come for a cup of coffee and catch up with other parents and school office staff.

I look forward to working with the Pioneer parent community, teachers, and staff to make this another amazing school year filled with enrichment opportunities that will create lasting memories for our kids.

Sincerely,

Linda Lingbloom

Pioneer PTA President 2019-20
